Project description:

The Ontario Line will be a 15.6-kilometre subway line consisting of 15 new stations from Exhibition Place to Ontario Science Centre. The Ontario Line Enabling Works 1 project undertakes the necessary track diversions, signal changes and utility relocations within the Union Station Rail Corridor in Toronto, Ontario (one of the busiest corridors in North America) to make way for the future Ontario Line tunnel and portal structure. It is in lockstep and connects into the future East Harbour Transit Hub.

‍

The project involved diverting 5 mainline operational rail lines approximately 2 track centers south, the reconfiguration of 9 switches forming the Cherry St. interlocking (one of the busiest interlockings in North America), a replacement of a 5-track signal bridge, relocation of signal bungalows, cases and reconfiguration of a 10-track storage yard.
